A renowned local and international faculty will deliver a variety of lectures on the cutting edge of surgery. Additional live surgery, workshops and an evidence-based medicine (EBM) course will be offered as part of the EDS PGT Course. European Digestive Surgery offers 20 travel grants (EUR 250.– each) for the 14th EDS Postgraduate Course. Please send your application together with your CV and a short letter of motivation to secretary@edsurgery.org (the exact conditions can be found at www.edsurgery.org prior to the course). The EDS Council meeting took place on March 29, 2021. As part of the work of our Board member Giovanni Marchegiani on the UEG Quality of Care Task Force, efforts are being made to improve clinical standards and reduce health disparities across Europe. The Quality of Care Task Force maintains a set of standards and guidelines. Ideas and initiatives from EDS members are welcome for further development. Finally, it should be mentioned that Professor Thomas van Gulik was unanimously accepted as an honorary member of EDS. Prof. van Gulik works as an HPB surgeon at the University of Amsterdam and is also a renowned HPB researcher. On behalf of the EDS Board, we thank him for his commitment to EDS.
